Our Journey Is About Supporting Yours
The story behind Life Improvements
Bringing Care and Practical Support Together
We started Life Improvements because between the two of us, we’ve spent most of our lives helping people in different ways. Mandy is an enrolled nurse with more than 30 years in disability, aged care, and community health. John has been a builder since the age of 16, with skills in home maintenance, renovations, and modifications like ramps and grab rails. Together, we saw how combining our skills could make life a little easier for people here in Alice Springs and the surrounding communities. For us, it’s about giving you support that feels personal, respectful, and shaped around what matters to you.

Frequently Asked Questions
What areas do you support?
We provide services in Alice Springs and the surrounding rural and remote communities. John has worked for many years in remote areas, managing building projects and meeting with residents to understand their needs. Mandy has also supported participants in regional and remote settings through her nursing and aged care roles. This experience means we know how to adapt and deliver care in communities where support can be harder to access. If you are unsure whether your area is covered, please get in touch, we’ll do our best to make it work.
Can I choose which services I receive?
Having choice and control is at the heart of what we do. Everyone’s life looks different, so the supports you choose should reflect what matters to you. Some people come to us mainly for home modifications or garden care, while others rely on personal care or medication support. Many use a mix of both. We’ll take the time to listen to your goals, respect your preferences, and shape our services around your routines. And if your needs change, we’ll adjust alongside you.
How do I start with your services?
It begins with a simple conversation. You or your carer can contact us to talk about what support you’d like. Mandy can help with care planning, daily routines, and nursing needs, while John can look at your home and discuss practical modifications or maintenance, as well as support services. Together, we’ll create a plan that feels achievable and respectful of your choices. We’ll move at your pace, making sure you feel comfortable and supported every step of the way.
Do you provide both home care and health support?
We do. Mandy provides health and personal care, including daily routines, domestic assistance, meal preparation, medication, and wound care. John offers home and maintenance support such as ramps, grab rails, garden care, lawn mowing, renovations, and equipment servicing, as well as support services. This mix of services means you don’t have to juggle multiple providers. You can get health and home support from one team that knows you and understands your needs.
What experience do you bring to this work?
Between us, we bring decades of experience in nursing, disability and aged care, building, and maintenance. Mandy has worked as a nurse in hospitals, medical centres, and community settings for over 30 years, and has also managed disability and aged care services. John has been in the building industry since he was 16, working across construction, renovations, and maintenance, including in remote Aboriginal communities. Our combined skills mean we can offer a wide range of supports with professionalism, care, and attention to detail.
How do you make sure my privacy is protected?
Privacy and confidentiality are core values for us. Mandy’s nursing career and John’s work in sensitive environments have reinforced the importance of discretion. Any personal or health information you share with us will remain private. We will only speak with others, such as your family or health team, if you’ve asked us to. You can feel confident that your story, your information, and your home will always be respected.
